A few years ago I developed Lymphedema. This caused my legs to swell up, water blisters/ulcers to form, and fluid to leak. There is no cure for lymphedema. Last fall I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in addition to having lymphedema. Having lymphedema and type 2 diabetes was the breaking point in my life. I knew from that moment on I had to change my life around so I can live a longer healthier lifestyle. Weight loss and being active (physical fitness) is the best way to reduce the likelihood of future lymphedema flare ups. Also regular exercise can help with insulin sensitivity which helps to reduce the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes. In my case I was insulin resistant. Since I started exercising regularly and eating healthier I am now more insulin sensitive which is a good thing. November of last year I weighed 480 lbs and now I weigh 340 lbs. Follow along as I get down to 265 lbs which is my weight loss goal.
